Chama software

Chama software that keeps every shilling accounted for.

Contributions, loans, welfare and statements on one shared ledger that every member can see — instead of an Excel file and a WhatsApp thread. Built for Kenyan chamas and investment clubs that keep members’ savings and lend from the pool.

What your group gets

One record of who paid, who borrowed and who is owed.

Contributions

Every contribution lands on a named member.

Members are registered once with a unique reference, so a payment matches a person, not a nickname. Monthly contributions, welfare pots and merry-go-round rounds are separate products with their own rules.

  • Named members, dated entries, quotable references.
  • Balances members can check without asking the treasurer.
  • Late contributions visible the day they are late.

Loans from the pool

Lend to members with rules the group agreed.

Set the loan products, interest and limits your constitution allows. Applications, guarantors, approvals and repayment schedules are recorded, so arrears are a fact and not an argument.

  • Loan products with limits, interest and terms.
  • Guarantor consent recorded against each loan.
  • Repayment schedules and arrears per member.

Member App

Members see their own position in KES, on their phone.

Savings, shares, loans and statements in a Member App, so “I paid” is something a member can show rather than claim. The group’s officials keep the Back Office.

  • Statements and balances from a phone.
  • Loan requests and guarantor consent in the app.
  • Roles for the chair, treasurer and view-only members.

What is live and what is being built

Plain answers before you move your group.

The shared ledger, member records, loans, statements and the Member App are the same product SenteRail runs for SACCOs today. M-Pesa collection for Kenya — STK Push and Paybill posting straight to the member — is being built on Safaricom Daraja and is described as architecture, not as a live entitlement, until it ships for your group.

  • Live today

Member register, contribution and savings products, loans with guarantors, statements, roles and an audit trail, the Member App.

  • Being built for Kenya

Automated M-Pesa STK Push and C2B Paybill posting to the member ledger; shortcode enrolment stays a Safaricom and partner process.

  • Never claimed

SenteRail does not hold your group’s money, does not lend, and is not named as the platform in any constitution template.

Getting started

Move the group off the spreadsheet.

  1. Clean the member list

Resolve duplicate names and phone numbers, freeze opening balances, keep the old workbook as evidence.

  2. Register your group

Start an application with the group’s details. Registered SACCOs and groups still deciding on their structure both start here.

  3. Invite the members

Members join by invitation, see their balances, and the treasurer stops being the only copy of the truth.

Questions chamas ask first

Short answers; the guides carry the detail.

Is SenteRail a chama app?

SenteRail is a SACCO management system — a Back Office for the officials and a Member App for members — that a chama or investment club can run its members, contributions, loans and statements on. It is not a lightweight social app, and it does not hold or move the group’s money itself.

Do we have to be a registered SACCO to use it?

No. The application asks how your group is regulated and accepts “exempt or not applicable” for groups that are not SACCOs. If your group is growing toward lending at scale or recruiting beyond people who know each other, read “Chama or SACCO?” before you decide on a structure.

Does it work with M-Pesa?

Automated M-Pesa collection for Kenya — STK Push and Paybill payments posting to the right member — is being built on Safaricom Daraja. Until it ships for your group, contributions are recorded against M-Pesa receipt codes on the shared ledger.

What does it cost?

Subscription tiers and an estimator in KES are published on the pricing page. There is no per-member fee hidden in a quote.

Who can see our members’ data?

Your group is the data controller and SenteRail processes the data on your instructions, with tenant isolation, role-based access and an audit trail. The Kenya data-protection guide explains the controller and processor split.

Give your chama one set of books.

Register your group, or read the guides first and come back when the spreadsheet stops working.

Applications are reviewed before activation.
